The
July and August, 2008 community hikes were a grand success again.
About 25 people participated in these community hikes in spite of the heat
in July. Many thanks to
Suzanne and Rejean Paquin for maintaining what is becoming a wonderful
Rossland and Friends of the Rossland Range tradition.

Red
Shutter Inn Ltd (Big Red Cats') A proposed amendment to their
existing tenure for the purpose of temporarily controlling access to
specific constructed snow roads has been withdrawn.
Winter,
2008, the "Celebrate the Legacy" photos and films were
on display at the Rossland Chamber and Library. See Trail Daily

The
August, 2007 community hikes were a grand success. Even
more people than in 2006 participated in the 2007 hikes to Old Glory
Peak. All ages and abilities of people from the region were
represented on the 2 hikes on August 11 and 25, and we owe many thanks to
Suzanne and Rejean Paquin for maintaining what is becoming a wonderful
Rossland and Friends of the Rossland Range tradition. See poster

FORR
has been vocal in correspondence regarding the Nancy Greene Provincial
Park fixed-roof accommodation debate. There will be no
fixed-roof accommodation, for now, at Nancy Greene Park. Read the

Celebrate the
Legacy: a permanent and traveling display of community photographs
of the Rossland Range The free photography and film event
on January 29, 2006 was such a great
success that the boards of photographs from this event were created as a
permanent and traveling display. The first display of the framed
boards was in downtown Rossland, the Pro Hardware front windows, on the
corner of Washington and Columbia. Read more here.

Third
Annual AGM: About 30 people attended the third annual
AGM on Nov 21, 2006 and 1 new director was elected. A variety
of topics were discussed, summarized. See the chronological
history page for correspondence as a result of discussion about the
Nancy Greene Provincial Park fixed roof accommodation issue.
The

Over 30 people from the region participated and all ages and abilities
were represented.

Annual AGM: About 30 people attended the second annual
AGM and 2 new directors were elected.
New
Cat-skiing Tenure Reinforces Need to Protect Old Glory Alpine. On
March 30, 2005, a statement by FORR was released to all regional news

An
Evening of Music and Storytelling is held April 22, 2005, Miner's
Hall in Rossland, 7pm. Everyone is welcome to this fun fundraising event!! $5 per
ticket, children are free. Read more here.
Support
the FORR goals by becoming a member. We are asking those members who have
not paid dues to submit payment. We are embarking on a
community/public education campaign utilizing information bulletins,
trailhead signage and maps. The flyers state goals and
our First Quarter 2005 work (see Membership).
Members
are urged to state your opinion about resort development and the issue of
tenures for commercial use of the backcountry in writing
to Sandy Santori, our MLA and Minister of State, Resort Development.
Review this informative and well-written note to the membership by FoRR
Board Member Ken Holmes. Links are also presented here to provide further information about
the BC Resort Task Force Strategy.
