Celebrate the Legacy: a permanent and
traveling display of community photographs of the Rossland Range
An overwhelming support of the
photography presentation at the Firehall Gallery
in Jan, 2006, resulted in funding and creation of 8 permanent and
traveling boards of over 200 photographs from the community.
About 20 community photographers
contributed the old and new photographs of people in the Rossland
Range. These images were scanned, printed and artfully placed on
boards for framing and display.
From early March to early April,
2007, six of the 8 panels were displayed in the front windows of Rossland
Pro Hardware, downtown Rossland, on the corner of Washington and Columbia
(see below pictures).
Saturday,
March 31, 2007, 2 of the panels and the short 1954 film about those who worked
on top of Old Glory, "Professional Hermits Operate Canada's Highest
Weather Station", and the video "The Builders of Red
Mountain" were shown at the base of Red Mountain during Red's event,
"History Day". For details, times, click here.
Monday,
April 2, 2007, 2 of the panels were displayed at Rossland Rotary's regular
meeting.
As
of May 19, 2007, all 8 panels will be on display at the Rossland
Historical Museum and from time to time the boards will travel and be
displayed at other venues in the community.
Thank
you to everyone who participated in making this project possible:
