A huge success -- The Old Glory Alpine:  Celebrate the Legacy, January 29, 2006 at the Firehall Gallery in Rossland

Several hundred people came to the Firehall Gallery to see over 200 community photographs, Rossland Museum photograph reproductions and the 1954 National Film Board of Canada film about the Old Glory Weather Station.

Wilf Gibbard travelled from Christina Lake -- he's 92 years old and took supplies to the weather station in the 40's and 50's using a string of pack horses.  People of all ages came to see and enjoy the event.

Thank you to everyone who participated and especially to generous donors and good and services:

Louise Drescher, Rossland Council for the Arts and Culture, The Firehall Art Gallery

Steve Harder, Interior Signs of Trail

Mel Black, Northern Light Graphics

Joyce Austin, Rossland Museum

All the photographers who loaned treasured photographs

Our friends who "pitched in" when it was really needed

Crowds watched the 6 minute 1954 video produced by the National Film Board of Canada, "Professional Hermits Operate Canada's Highest Weather Station"

Richie Mann's 1990 video of the builders of Red Mountain Renuion Ski on Grey Mountain was also presented.

Former Director Bridget O'Malley and Member Suzanne Paquin sold lottery tickets and memberships alongside 1 of the 4 large reproductions of historical photographs from the Rossland Museum:

"The Old Glory Weather Station"

"Downtown Rossland in Winter "

"Snowshoers on Tour"

"Mt Roberts Flagstaff"

Silent auction proceeds from these 4 photographs benefited the Rossland Museum and Friends of the Rossland Range
